What this site is

TheCasinoRank reviews exactly ten online casinos. Every one holds a current operating licence from the UK Gambling Commission, and we publish the licensee name and licence number on every page with a link to the Commission's own register entry.

Ten is a deliberate number, not a starting point. A site listing two hundred casinos has not examined two hundred casinos. We would rather cover a small set properly — the actual terms, the actual licensee, the actual cost of a bonus — than publish a directory.

Why the licence number is on every page

Most casino sites say "licensed and regulated". Very few print the number.

The number is what makes the claim checkable. Every review here carries the licensee's legal name, its Gambling Commission account number, its remote casino licence number, and a direct link to that operator's entry on the public register. You can verify any claim we make about licensing in about fifteen seconds, without taking our word for it.

We build the data from the Commission's official daily register download rather than from operator marketing, and we re-check it on a regular cycle. The date of the most recent check appears on every ranked list.

If an operator's licence stops showing as active, it comes off the site.

How we rank

Four weighted components: bonus fairness at 40%, entry cost at 20%, regulatory record at 20%, and transparency at 20%. The full method, including what we deliberately do not score and why, is on our How we rate page.

The short version is that we score what a bonus is actually worth rather than what it says on the front of it. A £500 headline with 35x wagering and a conversion cap is a worse offer than 50 free spins paid as cash, and our order reflects that. It is the main reason our ranking differs from sites that sort by bonus size.

How we make money

If you open an account through a link on this site, the casino may pay us a commission. It costs you nothing, and the offer you receive is identical to the one you would get by going to the operator directly.

Commission does not influence rankings. No operator can pay to appear here, to move up, or to be removed. Where we hold a commercial relationship with an operator we have criticised, the criticism stays on the page.

What we will not do

List unlicensed operators. Sites operating outside the Commission's remit sit outside its rules on fair terms, its required dispute resolution, and its player protections. We do not list them, and we do not publish content aimed at helping people around self-exclusion.

Publish figures we cannot source. Every bonus amount, wagering requirement and minimum deposit here comes from the operator's own published terms and carries the date we checked it. Where we do not hold a verified figure, we leave the field out rather than estimate it.

Claim testing we have not done. Where a withdrawal window is the operator's published figure rather than one we have measured, the page says so. We would rather have a smaller number of verified claims than a full page of unverifiable ones.
