Privacy policy

How TheCasinoRank collects, uses and protects personal data under UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018.

  1. Controller. TheCasinoRank is the controller of personal data collected through this website. Contact: editorial@thecasinorank.com.
  1. What we collect. (a) Technical data: IP address, device and browser type, operating system, referring URL and pages viewed. (b) Consent data: your cookie preferences and the date you set them. (c) Correspondence: your name, email address and message if you contact us. (d) Analytics data, only where you have consented: aggregated page views, session duration and campaign source. We do not collect gambling account data, payment details or special category data.
  1. Lawful bases. Necessary cookies and basic security logging rely on our legitimate interests in operating a secure website (Article 6(1)(f)). Analytics and marketing cookies rely on your consent (Article 6(1)(a)), given through the cookie banner and withdrawable at any time via 'Your privacy choices'. Responding to your email relies on legitimate interests, or on steps taken at your request. Where we must keep records, we rely on legal obligation (Article 6(1)(c)).
  1. Retention. Server and security logs: up to 12 months. Consent records: up to 24 months, or until you change your choice. Analytics data: up to 14 months in aggregated form. Correspondence: up to 24 months after the matter is closed, unless a longer period is required for a legal claim.
  1. Processors and recipients. We use a website hosting provider, a content delivery network, an analytics provider (only with your consent) and an email provider. Each processes data on our documented instructions under a written contract. Where a processor transfers data outside the UK, we rely on UK adequacy regulations or the International Data Transfer Addendum to the EU Standard Contractual Clauses, with a transfer risk assessment on file. We do not sell personal data.
  1. Affiliate links. When you click through to an operator, that operator becomes an independent controller of any data it collects. A click may be recorded by an affiliate network for commission attribution; that recording is treated as marketing and only occurs where you have consented.
  1. Automated decision-making. We do not carry out automated decision-making or profiling that produces legal or similarly significant effects.
  1. Your rights. Under UK GDPR you have the right of access, rectification, erasure, restriction, portability, objection (including to processing based on legitimate interests), and the right to withdraw consent at any time without affecting prior lawful processing. To exercise any right, email editorial@thecasinorank.com. We respond within one month and may extend by two further months for complex requests, telling you why.
  1. Complaints. If you are unhappy with how we handle your data, please contact us first. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office, Wycliffe House, Water Lane, Wilmslow, Cheshire SK9 5AF, telephone 0303 123 1113, ico.org.uk.
  1. Children. This site is for adults aged 18 or over. We do not knowingly collect data from children and will delete any such data brought to our attention.
  1. Changes. We will update this notice when our processing changes and will show the revision date at the top of the page.
